It's because of the monster, I told my friends. You can't stay the night at my flat because of the monster.

No, I wasn't talking about the one who lives in the wardrobe. He's scared of strangers. I'm talking about the monster in my head that makes me wash my hands dozens of times a day because I'm terrified of germs.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD if you can't be bothered to say the whole thing.

What is brain plasticity? And how is it related to developing an eating disorder?

Brain plasticity, or neuroplasticity, is the lifelong ability of the brain to change itself based on new experiences. When we say "the brains ability to change" we don't mean something mystical or just "spiritual".

What we are alluding to is the brains ability to reorganise or rewire its neuronal pathways that has lead to certain wanted or unwanted actions or behaviours.

Virtually every culture has believed dreams carry important messages. To the ancient Greeks, dreams were great healers. People who were sick slept in special healing temples in hopes of receiving therapeutic dreams from the gods. The Talmud, the Hebrew sacred book of practical wisdom, states clearly that the Jews gave great importance both to the dream and to the dream interpreter.

Tensions and conflicts in family relationships may arise during the holidays due to lingering hurts, angers, fears and resentments from conflicts that occurred many years ago. Who of us has not experienced frustrations, angers and hurts at some time in our family relationships? Who does not have unresolved residues of unpleasant feelings from such interactions? Who has not felt a measure of tension or stress in planning a holiday get together, worrying about who crotchety aunt Tillie would be best seated next to in order to avoid abrasive or perhaps even explosive interactions that could ruin the festive holiday atmosphere?

    Politeness can be poisonous

Such problems often arise out of our wishes to be polite and not cause a conflict when a family member hurts our feelings.

This article discusses the impact of therapeutic health and psychology programs for drug rehabilitation. This article is for those seeking relief from addiction, poor health, and psychological problems.

Drug rehabilitation for Christians should include six goals: (1) Choice for patients, so that the treatment program is a good match (2) Program structuring that is compatible with the needs of the person undergoing addiction treatment and rehabilitation (3) Professionalism on the part of the therapeutic staff and health care providers (4) Licensure standards by the professionals and the health care institution (5) A core curriculum that teaches the value of sobriety, abstinence from drugs or alcohol; and (6) An increased role in rehabilitation by churches and houses of worship.

When it comes to hypnosis there are actually various types and in this article we will be talking about those various types and why each one is helpful to us. As of today there are millions of people around the world that are taking full advantage of the benefits that hypnosis offers, whether its to stop smoking, gain self-confidence, sleep better or live a pain free life; hypnosis is an incredible tool! While hypnosis isn't a cure so to speak, it can lead us to cures in our lives.

Violence in the family is a major source of teen female violence. The future well-being of a society is directly linked to its ability to care for and educate its young. Families that cannot successfully care for their young, nurture the seeds of future violence and criminality. Until we learn this, we will continue to build more prisons at a much higher cost than treatment or prevention.

Self-esteem is how well you think of yourself. It is important to children and adults, alike. Self-esteem is believing and caring as much for yourself as you do other people. It is believing that you are competent and good. It's being as kind to yourself as you would be to someone else.

Some people care more for others than they do themselves.

At no time in our modern history have more demands been placed upon the law enforcement officer. Communities are extremely concerned about crime and they are demanding that law enforcement agencies "do something about it."

It seems that every day, violent crime and drugs occupy the front page of every newspaper in America.
Politicians at the local, state and national level like to give the impression of being "tough on crime" and espouse philosophies which, at least outwardly, seem to support that toughness.

When my daughter was two, we lived in a house with a mural on the bathtub wall. It was a Polynesian scene with a palm tree and some strange looking Tiki figures. One day, for some reason, she became terrified of the scene and refused to take a bath. I tried everything I knew to no avail. She was adamant about not stepping into the tub and became hysterical if anyone tried to coax or force her.
