The communication between a boss and his or her employees is of great importance to maintain a good atmosphere on the job. However, it seems that many employees are unsatisfied with their direct leading manager or boss. Usually one of the reasons is a lack of good communication between both parties.

One thing a boss should do to create clarity on his department is providing his employees with the information he knows.

You've been working in the same office for two years and yet you still have no idea of the name is of the guy in accounts or the lady on reception. Sound familiar? It's amazing how we can work with so many people on a daily basis and still know so little about them. Head down and working hard, we can often forget that our colleagues have another life outside of work.

Team building exercises serve to bring together a working community, improve relations and generally facilitate a happier office environment once everyone is back at work. The types of activities chosen for these corporate bonding events vary greatly, and often seem to reflect a psychological need for battle and challenge between co-workers. Personally, I would have bet my last fiver that creating tensions between workers would stir up any underlying tensions, and maybe end in a non-planned boxing event at one of these team building retreats.

From The Marina Village to The Holiday Inn in downtown San Diego there are thousands of Christmas or Holiday parties taking place every year in this beautiful county. The majority of the Christmas parties are for companies and corporations that are wanting to reward their employee's in the holiday season, by having a nice get together with co-workers and spouses for some fine dining and dancing.

Thinking types make Decisions in a logical and analytical way. Before they commit to and support a Decision, everything about the subject has to be perfectly clear. They prefer to be objective and are somewhat detached, which tends to earn them the label of being impersonal. Thinkers weigh the pros and cons and take a step back to analyze the situation, logically and impersonally, asking themselves if this makes sense and what are the ramifications of the decision.

If your managers aren't engaged in your business, then it's likely their employees are not engaged either. That's like having pilots in a cockpit flying blind.

The demands of today's company leaders are high and intense with layers of complexity. In fact, most of your leaders are probably technically competent, but they lack experience and the effectiveness that make them truly good leaders who can keep their employees happy and consistently engaged in the core values and goals of the organization.

If you wish to play an office prank on your colleagues then just try walking into the office and mentioning in passing that there is a company team building event planned soon. The looks of horror will cascade around the office as your colleagues picture the trust falls and group chanting in a secluded field somewhere around Dorset.

Although his is an exaggeration, many employees are subjected each year to company team building events which include various hellish pursuits such as role plays and colleague bonding.

Communication is central to our life - we communicate with others every day, throughout the day. Understanding, appreciating and accommodating personality differences in communication style can bring major success to our effectiveness as a friend, spouse, employee, supervisor, trainer, leader and team member. People have different preferences in the way they take in and evaluate information and their orientation to the world around them.

In a business organisation, one thing that is vital to creating a positive and successful working environment is the build up of a strong teamworking atmosphere. Without a strong team, the business will struggle a great deal in seeing the results they want to see in their organisation. Building a good workforce will mean an increase in financial success, improved productivity, improvement in employment motivation and more encouragement for innovation.

Team building has been around as a corporate training technique for decades, but recently it's fallen into disuse. Why? Because many of the techniques of team building seem more like play than work, perhaps.

Or because managers decided that the team building they'd already done was enough to make the group cohesive and maximize their productivity.
